I have REALLY enjoyed having these last 2 weeks off. It has been fun being able to stay home with Tanner. I could really get used to this! Even when we do have a bad day...
Tanner is into EVERYTHING. If a door is open, you better watch it. Well, today I was getting some cereal out of the pantry and took it to the counter. I didn't close the door behind me so Tanner used that chance to crawl into the pantry. We had some coke cans on the floor and he grabbed one...harmless right? That is what I thought...WRONG! He proceeded to throw it on the floor busting a hole in the can. It was like a champagne bottle that had just been opened. It spewed EVERYWHERE!! All over the wall, floor, his face, the doors! So I grabbed it away from him and took him out of the kitchen. I decided that I probably needed to wait to try to clean it up until Tanner went to take a nap, which should have only been about 30 or an hour at the max. Umm, not today...Tanner didn't go to sleep until almost two hours after the coke explosion!!! It was great fun to clean up since it had time to dry. I had to laugh...at least after it was cleaned up!!
Then this afternoon, he decided to try his little chompers on my leg. He bit the MESS out of me! At first, I didn't know what it was. I don't know if my reaction scared him or what because he cried for a little while after he did it. It hurt so bad...so I now have a battle wound on my leg. It left a little pink mark from his 4 little teeth!
I am sad to see these two weeks come to an end. Is it too soon to ask...how long till summer?

Goodbye 2009
Another year in the books. 2009 was not kind to everyone, but overall it was a pretty good year for us! Of course, Tanner being born was the highlight of the year and continues to be a blessing! Another favorite memory from this year is going to NYC...I'm ready to go back...who's in??? We celebrated the New Year at some friends house...but we were home and in bed before midnight. I know, I know...LOSERS!!
So 2010 has started with a bang. Tommy and I went out on a date last night! Doesn't happen often, but it was time for just the two of us. We went to eat at Chili's and I swear that was the best food I have ever had there! Then we went to see The Blind Side. OH MY GOODNESS...great movie!! It really makes me think...I know that I have students that I teach that live in horrible conditions that I would never dream of living in. I have one in particular that grew up in New Orleans, product of a druggie and gang banger. Mom died of an overdose and Dad died in a gang fight. My heart breaks to think of what he has been through! Thankfully, he was adopted by a sweet family that is sadly struggling to get by. I have a heart for that kid even though he makes it tough. We are really trying to steer him in the right direction. After last night, I want him to see that movie. Tommy and I were talking on the way home. If I had the $$ that the Tuey's(SP?) had, I would want to adopt too! I just think of how many kids are in this world without a family to call their own. God bless their little hearts!
